- Check the safety pawl being placed correctly. (Fig. 1)
Place the sample tube in the 2 guiding grooves, press it into the final position and mount the 2 lock clamps. (Fig. 2)
- Mount the outer shovel plate and lock it to the 2
shovel arms by means of the 2 lock fittings. (Fig. 3)
- Press the outer shovel arms into horizontal position. (Fig. 4)
- Place the necessary number of weights at the weight station and lock them. (Fig. 5)
- a) The upper part of the Box Corer now has to be hitched on the lifting hook from the winch.
b) Fasten the thin stainless steel wire at the lid of the sample tube by means of the snap hook. (Fig. 6)
c) The lid is held open and the thin steel wire is mounted simultaneously with the
spring loaded release clamp. (Fig. 7)
d) Hold the release clamp in position by hand while the
Box Corer is lifted 2-3 cm. until the head wire is taut.
e) Take out the safety pawl and the Box Corer is now ready for operation.
Brief characteristics of the function:
While the Box Corer is lowered into the water, there is a full flow through the sample tube in order to obtain an undisturbed sample.
