The dredge can be used without the rubber plate. When using the rubber plate it is necessary to use some kind of buoyancy to ensure the correct position of the dredge.

Rubber plate Thickness 10 mm, heavy duty. We recommend using the dredge without the rubber plate. On the Galathea 3 expedition they found the rubber plate to be worn out very fast in spite of the thickness of the rubber plate.

When using the rubber plate it is necessary to have a buoyancy or similar to ensure the correct position of the dredge.
