Short description
The main frame and all movable parts are made of AISI
316 stainless steel.
The main frame consists of 2 pcs of steel platforms, welded together with 3 vertical spacers of profiled steel.
At the lower platform are mounted 3 detachable legs made of square steel profiles mounted with special fittings.
Base plates are welded to the bottom of the legs.
Distance between the base plates is app. 2 metres.
The movable part consists of 2 pcs steel platforms, connected with 3 spacers. At the platforms are mounted strong slide bearings made of
polypropylene, PP. Under the lower steel platform is mounted a device
for fastening the corer tube.
The standard unit is equipped with 20 pcs 5 kg lead weights.
Function
During descent, insertion and sampling, the top of the sample tube remains open, allowing a free flow of water and preventing pressure build-up
disturbing the sediment surface.
After landing on the seabed, and after the sample tube has reached its maximum depth, an automatic mechanism releases the closing
shovel and it is drawn into vertical position, closing the bottom of the tube and securing the sample inside.

Hydraulic dampers can be mounted if very slow sample tube penetration in the seabed is desired.
On withdrawal from the seabed, the top of the sample tube is closed and sealed by the hinged flap with soft rubber padding.
The sample tube is made of 3 mm electropolished AISI 316
stainless steel .
The possible sample areas are 400 cm² respectively with a penetration depth of 35 cm.
A sample tube made of clear polycabonate PC is available on request.
A special sample tube AISI 316 stainless steel with a removable front-plate and adjustable drainage holes is available on request. |
