General:
The KC Kajak Sediment Core sampler is based on the Kajak design and can be used as line operated as well as hand operated sampler. With a wide range of accessories the system can be adjusted for various projects.
 
Models available:
The Kajak comes as a quick-change model, (13.030). This model speeds up the changing of corer tubes, very useful if you need a lot of samples. All parts are made of AISI 316 stainless steel. Model 13.030 can also be equipped with AISI stainless steel corer tubes. An internal PP (polypropylene) liner can be inserted to the stainless steel tube for easy (and cheap) storing of many samples. The stainless steel tube can also hold the orange peel closing system (core catcher), which will prevent the sample from exiting.
 
Tubes and liners:
Standard delivery includes 1 pc acrylic sample tube. For very hard sea beds you can mount stainless steel tubes and also include internal liners if you need a large number of samples to be stored for later analysis.
 
Extension for hand operated Kajak:
Working in small depths up to 4 metres, you can operate the Kajak by hand. The upper part of the line operated sampler can be exchanged with a shaft in order to sample by manual insertion of the tube. The shafts are made of AISI 316 stainless steel tubes, each 2,0 metres. They can be assembled to a maximum length of 6 metres, recommended use max. 4 m.

Increase of performance:
Adding of top lead weights, 13.310 (each 650 gr, max. mounting 16 pcs = 10,4 kg) will increase penetration of the bottom sediment. For mounting you will need 2 pcs 13.007.
When the Kajak is not in use, please tie up the part as shown to prevent the bung from being jammed in the stainless steel top.  

IMPORTANT

The rubber bung must be smeared with a thin layer of silicone grease before use.

Kajak equipped with stainless steel tubes and liners  
For heavy performance the 13.030 Kajak can be equipped with stainless steel tubes and various equipment:

• Stainless steel tube + carver. (Piston rod cannot be used).
• Stainless steel tube + carver + orange peel system. (Prevents the sample from exit). (Piston rod cannot be used).
• Stainless steel tube + carver + orange peel system + liner. The sample will remain in the liner and can be stored for later analysis. Piston rod can be used to eject the sedi-ment from the liners.

Ejecting the sample from PP and PMMA liners  
The internal design of the stainless steel tubes does not allow the adjustable piston rod to be used for ejecting the sample. It is necessary to use PM or PMMA liners inside the steel tube.
