Multi corer 12 x Ø110 mm

70.400 - Multi corer with 12 tubes
70.400 - Multi corer, 12 x 110 mm:

Application:
This multi corer is used for sampling in chemical, geo-chemical and biological applications. The coring head is hydraulically damped to ensure undisturbed samples. Quick change of tubes assures a high operational speed.

Operating depth:
Full ocean depth (11000 m).

Capacity:
12 core tubes, Ø110/105 mm, length 800 mm, penetration depth: 500 mm.

Sample tubes:
Standard delivery comes with Polycarbonate tubes. For harder sediment, the multi corer supports stainless steel tubes (73.101).

12 bases for lead weights, max. capacity 360 kg.

70.202 - Polycarbonate tube (standard delivery).

73.101 - Sample tube, stainless steel (optional).

General:
A multi corer with detachable legs, gyro-suspension, 12 pcs of polycarbonate tubes 800 mm long, Ø110 x 2,5 mm, 12 pcs of weights, each 10 kg, and a hydraulic damper. The multi corer is made of laser cut AISI 316 stainless steel plate with a finish of electro polish.

The multi corer rack, slide part, hydraulic damper, weight station and top and bottom plates are gyro-hinged, which secures vertical penetration of the sample tubes into the sediment.

The rack:
12 inclined, detachable legs made of square AISI 316 stainless steel tubes 40 x 40 x 3 mm, are held together by 12 pcs of Ø15 mm horizontal steel bars mounted beneath. Each leg has a welded foot plate, Ø320 mm with 8 holes Ø60 mm.

Dimensions:
Height of the rack: 2,50 m (loaded, ready for deployment)
Height of the rack: 2,0 m (the corer has been released
Bottom diameter of the rack: 2.80 m

Transport pallet:
Optional: A pallet for transport, storing and preparation before and after use. Made of AISI 316 stainless steel with a finish of electro polish. Dimensions: L x W x H: 170 x 150 x 173 cm, weight (no multi corer): 135 kg. Max. height inclusive the multi corer: 210 cm.

Weight:
Max. weight: 600 kg, approx.

70.203-12 - Transport pallet with rack for the multi corer (optional). All assembly and preparing for sampling can be done without hoisting the multi corer by a winch.

70.203-12 - Transport pallet provides a very compact storage of the multi corer.

Mode of operation:
During deployment, the top of each sample tube is held closed by a spring-loaded lid. Once the sample tube penetrates the seabed, the lid is forced open because of the internal pressure. When the sample has been taken, the lid will close again and simultaneously a spring-loaded plate is pressed in position under the sample tube. Both functions will secure the whole sample when raising the multi corer to the ships deck.

The core tubes are attached by a double lock-clamp and a close-fitting device, giving a good fastening and a quick change of tubes.

Weight station:
The upper part of the corer has a weight station with a capacity of 36 pcs 10 kg lead weights (optional). The inner top plate also supports additional lead weights.

The multi corer is developed in co-operation with associate professor Bo Thamdrup and Ph.D. student Uffe Thomsen, Danish Center of Earth System Science (DCESS), Institute of Biology, University of Southern Denmark.

70.410 - Extruder for sample tubes:
The extruder allows a fast, stepless extrusion of the sample. It is all made of AISI 316 stainless steel with a finish of electro polish. Support for a fraction tray (70.420) for collection of the sample. The extruder has a footprint of Ø40 cm, a height of 114 cm and a weight of 10 kg.

70.204 - Protection net (optional), avoids infiltration from the main wire.

70.410 - Extruder for sample tubes.

Camera option:
For a max. depth of 500 m it is possible adding our camera and light option (requires a bracket 70.400 BR).

19.680 - Camera and light option, max. 500 m depth (optional).
